Simple, beautiful color…a quantum subject that could take a lifetime of study! In one day we can’t begin to tap so deeply! This workshop is less about the color wheel and has a more hands-on approach to the topic. Students can come away with a new understanding of color-mixing to further their creative endeavors! Through the exploration of color exercises and mixing, we’ll apply our discoveries to a small painting. This workshop is for beginners, intermediate or anyone who wishes to learn more about color!

River Calling with Denise Wey - Acrylic Painting

Learn to paint water and rocks…hang up inhibitions and take the plunge!
This class is geared to beginners (or anyone) who wants to learn how to paint water.

Denise will share some steps to show how she began to learn to paint the Yuba.
Working on a 10×20, students will paint along with the instructor, step-by-step, on a
painting that has key river elements such as rocks, river water with reflections and
depth and foliage. You are responsible for purchasing your 10 × 20 canvas, but I
supply the paints and lend brushes if you don’t have your own. Dive In and enjoy!

High Level Play - Inspired by Matisse with Denise Wey
Saturday, May 16 from 10am - 3pm
Painted Paper! Collage! Color! Shape! Design! Story-Telling! You can’t help but have fun
in this workshop, playing with scissors, glue and paint! It’s called high level play because
it means approaching creation with freedom, curiosity and experimentation. It’s about
being present and letting the process guide you, essentially blending serious artistic
development with the joy of discovery!
You bring only the sturdy substrate (ie: whatever you choose to do this work on such as
canvas or masonite panels, cradled panels). For space & time considerations, keep your
substrate sizes to 16×16, 16×20 or 20×20…If time permits, you can do more than one!
All other materials are supplied.
