For Kids Ages 8 and up - with some technical abilities!
This adventurous course will take you on an imaginative journey, bringing an imagined story to life through the magic of two-dimensional cutout animation!
Students begin by cutting out photographs, found images, colored paper, fabric and other flat materials to create a setting and opening scene - along with characters and props by laying out a simple collaged idea to create the start of their video.
As you will see with the student video offered above, even just a few pieces of material can create an absolutely wonderful animation! Students who try it just can't get enough of this fun creative activity - making animation films to share with family, friends and postings to social media accounts!
All you need is your iPhone or iPad, the free Stop Motion Studio or Pro software ($5.99), iMovie software (standard on all iPhones and iPads) and any flat material you’d like to use in your animation. Shelley will provide materials as well and walk students through the entire step by step process - with general information about animation and how it works and hands on individual help!
Shelley will provide examples of wonderful animators, collage and story ideas, help with downloading and using the software, choosing materials, lighting, and the final post process editing of their animations - including how to add voice-over sound, titles and credits and more!
